Wild Cattle Wild Country - the book

Wild Cattle, Wild Country is a fascinating account of the development of the Northern Territory cattle industry told through the experiences of Ernie Rayner.

Ernie Rayner arrived in the Top End in 1959 and over the decades witnessed many changes and innovations in northern cattle stations such as road trains, bull catcher vehicles and helicopter mustering.

Ernie wanted to record the era while there were still some old mates left to tell the real story. The bush has many special characters who have done some remarkable things in their lifetime. Stories that are being lost as they move to that 'Stock Camp in the Sky'.

These are people who are not self promoters - they are the salt of the earth who deserve to be remembered.

Author, Anne Marie Ingham captures Ernie's experiences of the Top End cattle stations, the life and the characters that pioneered the region.

Thanks and appreciation to everyone who has supplied information and photographs.
